The news at FULTON’S TACKLE BOX is that THE SPRING SHOW will be on Saturday April 26th with local wholesale dealers "Made in America". Tom Mundy of Fishstalker Lures, Arnold Ledford, Jig X and more. We will have a crappie seminar by Tom Mundy, fishing contest (100% payback), food and fun. We have been having good turn outs for the Sunday tournaments on Lake Blalock. We now have the Doug Hannon revolutionary new spinning reels. On the fishing largemouth are being caught in two to three foot of water on live bait and artificials like worms and lizzards. Crappie fishing is good especially at night using minnows. Bream have moved to the shallows and are being caught on worms and crickets. Remember take a kid fishing!

This month we are featuring excellent Pontoons, Jon boats, Nautic Star Center Console boats powered by Honda, Evinrude and Johnson outboards at great prices, reports Tommy at HOLDEN’S MARINE located on Hwy 9 just south of I-85. The new boats have been really moving fast and we do have several good trade-ins at excellent, low, low prices. As always, we have plenty of marine parts and accessories, and an excellent service department and financing is available. Be sure to bring the family by and look over our Vacation Time Wide Open Special on the Nautic Star Sport Center Console boats just in time for Mother's Day.

It is just about the end of the season for the rainbow trout, but a few more might be caught the first of the month in our lakes. We are stocking plenty of catfish regularly and invite you to come out to CANNON’S LAKES located on Hwy 14 north of I-85 in Greer. We will be having carp rodeos all day on Saturday, and no South Carolina License is required to fish here. Big money carp tournaments coming soon. Stop in or call for upcoming dates.

From WC’s BAIT SHOP Mrs. C tells us Lake Blalock is back up to normal water level. In the area lakes and ponds fishing is great for bass, crappie, catfish and bream. Stop by or call for the latest area fishing report, and come check out our new fishing tackle. Don’t forget Mrs. C keeps the Rosey Red minnows for the crappie fishermen.

Despite all the up and down weather conditions in the first part of April, our customers did pretty good on the spring turkeys reports Don at KELL-CO SPORTS, located on Loan Oak Road just off Hwy I-585 in Spartanburg. He keeps a good supply of outdoor related items, including guns, ammo, and tree stands that you can put on lay away. He does carry Joy Dog Food.

We have the bait and tackle for you crappie fishermen reports Steve at HWY 9 AUTO STOP located South of Lake Bowen. It is worm and lizards fishing time for bass and he has a large selection of Zoom Baits. The bream fishing should be excellent the first of the month using worms and crickets. He also has plenty of rods, reels, tackle and accessories available. Stop by for cold beer, snacks, and gas for your boat or vehicle. The crappie tournament on Lake Bowen was April 19th. and rain date is April 26th. Stop by the store and see who won and look over the large selection of pictures and smiling faces.

Big bass will be caught around the grass in the shallows here at BROWN’S BAIT AND TACKLE located on Berry’s Pond on Berry Shoals Road out of Duncan. Rhett tells us they have Saturday and Sunday tournaments, and he invites you to stop by or call for further details. He has plenty of live bait, tackle, snacks, a boat ramp, and this is “over 75 acres of fishing heaven.” Bass fishing is great and a few big lunker bass were caught in April. Huge selection, over 200 carp flavorings available.

CHEROKEE OUTFITTERS is located in Gaffney at the Prime Outlet Mall 507 Winslow Avenue, exit 90 off I-85. Fishing is good to great on all the lakes and rivers in this area and in the midlands. We have plenty of tackle, live bait and accessories so stop by and get stocked up. Minnows fished close to the bank near brush will catch you some good crappie. Put a worm on the hook and catch bream or shellcrackers. May should be the month in the upstate that most bass should be on the bed (full moon is May 20), so try lizards and worms for best results.

The Boykin Spaniel is S.C. state dog reports RAINBOW KENNELS in the Spartanburg area. The kennel specializes in breeding Boykin Spaniels from on premises breeding stock that have been OFA... hip & heart checked & CERF eye checked. They’ve been raising Boykin’s for over 10 years & have become a respected member of the Boykin Spaniel Society.
