Lake Jocassee Trout Tournaments will be held out of JOCASSEE OUTDOORS CENTER on February 13, 2010, March 13, 2010 and April 10, 2010 . For further details and information, stop by or give them a call. The peak time for trout fishing is in the colder months. Night time trout fishing is good using live bait. Trout are being caught during the day trolling spoons or drifting large minnows 10-30 feet deep. Smallmouth are hitting small jigs fished around rocky points from the surface to 20 feet deep. Don’t forget to stop by for a couple of good, hot, fresh hot dogs before or after fishing. Jig N Spoons, shakey heads with small green worms or Pig N Jig fished 25 to 45 feet deep are the best bets for bass and spotted bass on Lake Keowee, around humps and brush reports PAT’S CASH AND CARRY located on Hwy 130, one mile south of Salem. They are deep and you need to fish them slowly. Some spots and crappie are being caught using minnows around brush piles. This month through May is the peak time for trout fishing on Jocassee. So come on up and bundle up and bring the whole family.

We are ready for the spring fishing and turkey hunting reports DURHAM’S CONVENIENCE MART, located at 3210 Walhalla Hwy in Six Mile. They are located right here in the heart of the tri-lake area. This is one shop in the Upstate that can give you a good and accurate, up to the minute fishing report of all three lakes here in the area (Hartwell, Keowee and Jocassee). Spotted bass are hitting jigs deep on Lake Keowee and the trout can be caught while trolling or using live bait on Jocassee. As always, they have good hot sandwiches fixed right here in the snack bar, and offer propane refills.

CLEARWATER MARINE is located at 2640 Walhalla Hwy. in Six Mile, S.C. They specialize in expert service on outboards and any type boat problem. They have a complete tackle shop with prices like Bass Pro Shop. Live blue back herring and umbrella rigs are available for the striper fishermen. They carry a huge selection of bass fishing lures by such companies as Sebile, Gary Yamamoto, Zoom, Haw River and Lucky craft. They have boats by Crestliner, Ebbtide and Champion, and outboards by Mercury, Mercruiser and Yamaha. They are located only 10 minutes from Lake Hartwell, 5 minutes from Lake Keowee and 15 minutes Lake Jocassee.

Lake Keowee Marina is located at 150 Keowee Marina Dr. in Seneca. They are a full service marina including gas, ship store, sales and service, boat rentals, storage, live and artificial baits. Some of the brands of lures they carry are Lake Fork, Nemire spoons, Reaction Strike, Smack bait, and Fish belly. All of the lures and tackle they carry are suitable for catching fish on Keowee. Guide service is available. South Bay is their main line of pontoons but they broker all types of boats. Don’t forget to stop by the Tiki Hut restaurant for a hot meal and cold beverage! They can service and winterize your boat and motor.

From M&W MARINE just outside of Pendleton Dave stated that if you are not using your boat, you need to winterize your outboard so that it will be protected from the cold this winter. They do make lake calls and do have reasonable rates. Give Dave a call at 864-646-2628 and let him solve your boat, outboard or inboard problems. They will work on all type of outboards.
