Stripers and hybrids are schooling right here on the lower lake
and some good fish are being caught reports CLARKS
HILL HERRING HUT located on Hwy 28 just below the 221
turnoff near the dam in the town of Clarks Hill. Also, plenty
of fish are being caught while free lining bait in the schooling
action and fishing straight down 24 to 40 feet with live bait.

Captain Daniel LaDow of ACE
STRIPER GUIDE gave us these tips on striper and hybrid
fishing on Clark Hill. Fishing has really been hot and I am not
talking about the weather. We are catching 2 to 20 pound hybrid/stripers
in 25 to 40 feet of water using live blue back herring. A little
wind is a must for the fish to really get turned on. September
through the end of December offers the best time of the year to
catch limits of fish before the winter season where you catch
fewer but bigger fish.
88
MART reports
that some hybrid /striper can be caught fishing live herring 30
to 40 feet deep mainly late afternoon or at night. You can also
fish cut bait from the bank near the dam and the Parksville, and
catch some really nice catfish. 88 MART is located on Hwy 28 only
a few miles from the dam. They have live bait including blueback
herring, beer, gas, ATM, snacks and much more.
CAPTAIN TOMMY DUDLEY is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed full
service striper and hybrid guide on Clarks Hill/Thurmond lake.
Tommy told us the striper/hybrid fishing in September will produce
some of the most exciting fishing of the year. Vast schools of
breaking fish will be found in the middle and upper section of
the lake but the action will be short and very early. Best method
is to pull down lines and free lines 16 to 20 foot down with live
herring in the schooling area. Keep artificial baits ready for
surface feeding fish. Mid to late morning troll the river channel
with bucktails and redfins around tree tops for larger fish. The
upper end of the lake will begin to produce larger fish again
from Broad River to the Russell dam. Limits are easy this month,
so book early for larger parties that require multiple boats.
Hunting season is upon us. There are only a few camping slots
available for this Falls hunting, and we advise you to call
or stop in to make reservations as soon as possible reports Bette
and Burl at DEERFEATHERS CAMPGROUND located on Hwy 283,
five miles east of Plum Branch. All spaces have water and electricity.
Just a few miles below us, the season opened in August and this
is a good place to stay. We also have snacks, groceries, drinks,
gas, beer, hot dogs, and BBQ sandwiches. We have a game room,
and as always a deer cooler will be available during hunting season.
The Annual Big Buck and Big Doe Contest will be held this year.
Pre-registration is required.

fishing, camping and water sports equipment is upstairs.
NUMBER ONE MARKET BAIT & TACKLE located in the Clearwater
area of North Augusta has an excellent tackle shop with plenty
of the latest bass fishing tackle and live bait. They continue

catfish are being caught on crickets and worms. The Savannah River

early in the day, late in the day and at night using mainly worms
and top water plugs around grass and off points. They have reports
of hybrids schooling on the cloudy days and late in the afternoon
in the lower part of the lake.
Near I-20 on Hwy. 1 in Aiken at OUTDOORS UNLIMITED they

that the season has opened. For the deer hunters, they have an
excellent selection of tree stands by Custom Outdoors Inc. , and
they have dog kennels 10x10x8. They also have ammo for the deer
and dove hunter. They are selling plenty of crickets and are getting
a few reports of bream and catfish being caught in local ponds.

Louisiana pink worms. Now is the time to take a kid fishing and
catch bream in the local ponds using crickets and red worms. Catfish

At PARKSVILLE STATION they have live herring and you can
put in and fish for stripers and hybrids in the Parksville area
of Clarks Hill. At this time of year try throwing cut bait for
catfish. There are reports of surfacing fish in the Parksville
and GA Flats area. The boat ramp area also has a rest room and
a fish cleaning station. They have live bait, beer and tackle
and a kitchen serving
hot meals.

HOOTIES FISHING & HUNTING stated all their customers
are deer hunting. Their indoor archery range is a great place
to get out of the heat and practice shooting a bow. They have
PSE and Bow Tech bows in stock. They also offer bow repairs, bow
tuning and service. September is a great time to bow fish at night
in the shallows for carp and gar in local ponds and rivers and

early and late in the day using crickets and worms in the shallows
in the local ponds around the full moon.
The fish are biting and the weather is great, so come see us at
CLIATT CROSSING located only a few miles pass the Lincolnton
