Good catches of Black Drum are reported along with big Spottail Bass & a few Trout catches. The freshwater story is very good! Striped Bass are going up river to spawn, so look for them in moving water near rock beds. The Bream fish’n is excellent & there is a lot of Largemouth Bass being caught during this post spawning season. The Cobia action has begun! The Spottail Bass fish’n has been very good through the Spring months & is expected to remain good through May. Black Drum, Sheepshead & Black Bass are a good catch at the Wreck. It’s that time of year to rig up for some great Cobia action.

Many huge Gobblers have been brought in this Season & it’s been another great Season. The Season closes on May 1st. It will soon be time to put away the turkey call & gear & think fish’n. Bill’s gotten good reports from all around the Low Country about great fish’n inshore & it’s starting to turn on offshore as well, plus it’s time for the Cobia to start their annual run up the Beaufort area rivers with lots of great action for all!

Spottail Bass are still a good catch & how that the waters have warmed, you can find them in the flats along grass lines. They’re getting much more aggressive. For some good Trout fish’n in May, it’s best to use artificial baits like Mirro-Lures & a variety of colors of grubs will work well. Tony & his crew at LOWCOUNTRY MARINE SUPPLY on the Robert Smalls Parkway in Beaufort, will sponsor the “Lowcountry Cobia Tournament” on Sat., May 10th. The good folks at DRIFTWOOD BAIT SHOP tell us, the fish’n is great all over. Some really nice Trout & Spottail Bass catches are reported. Live baits work best this time of year as the waters have now warmed & the fish are much more aggressive. There is lots of action in the rivers to be had, now that the Cobia run is in progress. It’s that time of year to get into landing one of natures best fighters. The Cobia will bite best on live eels. Stop by for your bait needs.
