Kevin and Alan of BLACKS
CAMP (843-753-2231) located at 1370 Blacks Camp Road Cross
SC says we have GROUP RATES for 10 to 65 people, give us a call
for more information. Our boat ramp is in fine shape with the
lake levels. The fishing is real good. They have been seeing some
very good trips for the catfish. The crappies can be caught in
deeper water over brush piles on jigs and minnows. Bream can be
caught around the fish attractors on worms and crickets. They
have a fine marina and restaurant and you can call Kevin Davis
or visit their website at www.blackscamp.com for fishing guide
services available. Kevin says to improve the fish habit put out
some brush piles and use myrtle bushes as they last the longest.
Also, They would like to remind everyone to practice catch and
release, so we will have plenty of bass, crappie, bream, stripers,
and catfish to catch in the future. Have a Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year.
THE CHEAP HOOKER CATFISH
GUIDE
Capt. Joe Carnley (843-753-3050) says: The colder weather is here
and the catfish are chasing the bait fish all over the deep water.
The fish go nuts at feeding time and we fishermen reap the rewards.
Daily catches of 120 to 300 pounds are fairly common this time
of year. We've had several trips already this Winter where we
caught over our limit of 36 inch (plus) Arkansas Blue Catfish
and had to release some (Don't want to break any laws). The water
level is much higher this year than last and almost all of the
lake is accessible and ready to be fished. Big fish are being
caught all over the lake but most of them are being pulled out
of deep water humps, drops, channels, brush piles and other types
of structure. I'm focusing most of my attention to water depths
between 30 and 55 feet. That's where all the bait fish are hanging
out and that's where the big cats go to eat. Some days are better
than others but as long as the weather holds out all of the days
are pretty good. I'm about booked up for December but I still
have some openings for January so if you'd like to take a chance
at catching a big catfish or maybe a lot of smaller ones for the
freezer, now is a real good time to go fishing. I'd like to thank
all of my regular customers for the repeat business and the excellent
"word-of-mouth" advertising. Without you guys it would
be difficult to stay in business and Lord knows I wouldn't want
to get a real job. Same goes to everyone who has ordered Gift
Certificates to be given as Christmas and Birthday presents. A
fishing trip makes a wonderful gift and can be taken anytime of
the year. Every year I get lots of requests for the gift certificates
and they're always a big hit with the friends or loved-ones who
receive them. Thank you! I really appreciate your loyalty. My
boat has a hardtop with a clear curtain enclosure to protect you
from the elements. I also have a port-a-potty enclosed in it's
own private area which comes as quite a relief for the ladies.

Captain John Sellers of BIG JOHN GUIDE
SERVICE (1-888-868-7553) and his parties have been coming
in with some fine catches of big catfish. The lake water has been
cooling and the catfish start chasing bait balls this time of
year and this makes for some exciting fishing. Big John has over
40+ years of experience fishing the lakes. He has a 30 ft. pontoon
boat that can handle up to 6 people and even has a rest room on
board. All of your needs are furnished so give him a call for
information or reservations. See ad in Magazine for more information.
