on Hwy 130, one mile south of Salem stated that some nice bucks
were taken in the mountain area during the 2008 season. Trout
fishing on Jocassee is starting to be outstanding because of the
cold weather, fish from 0 to 50 feet, while trolling or casting
to swirling fish. Plenty of spots and crappie are coming out of
Keowee using minnows around brush piles. Don’t forget about
our good hot food served daily. Happy New Years from us here at

Our customers have brought
in some big deer in the 2008 season reports DURHAM’S CONVENIENCE
MART located at 3210 Walhalla Hwy above Six Mile. Stop in
and check out the pictures. This is your fishing and hunting headquarters
in the heart of the tri-lake area. As always, they have good hot
sandwiches fixed right here in the snack bar, and offer propane
refills. Fishing is good to excellent on all three lakes in the
area. This is the time of the year the big trout are caught on
Jocassee using trolling spoons in 20 to 30 foot of water. Also
crappie and spot fishing is good on Keowee using minnows around
brush piles or drifting them off points.

With a little more cold weather, we probably can upgrade the trout
fishing to good. Trout are being caught trolling spoons or drifting
large minnows 20-50 feet deep. Smallmouth are hitting small jigs
fished around rocky points from the surface to 20 feet deep. Several
real nice deer and bear were checked in out of the mountain hunt
area in the 2008 season.
CLEARWATER MARINE is located at 2640 Walhalla Hwy. in Six Mile, S.C. They have sales, service, parts and Mercury marine accessories. Live blue back herring and umbrella rigs are available for the striper fishermen. They carry a huge selection of bass fishing lures by such companies as Sebile, Gary Yamamoto, Zoom, Haw River and Lucky craft. They have boats by Crestliner, Ebbtide and Champion, and outboards by Mercury, Mercruiser and Yamaha. They are located only 10 minutes from Lake Hartwell, 5 minutes from Lake Keowee and 15 minutes Lake Jocassee. They do offer boat service, repair and winterizing. They will be building more boat storage. They will be sponsoring the Fishin’ with Fowler TV show on cable TV.
