been caught recently in the river from the 378 bridge south using
live and cut herring right off the main creek runs reports PALMETTO ANGLER
on Hwy. 278 West. Also, fishermen report catching striper/hybrids
in SC Little River and Soap Creek. Jug catfishermen are having
good success recently. They have live herring and invite you to
stop by anytime you are fishing. They also have plenty of minnows
and worms available. Fishing tackle, live bait tanks and accessories
are also available for your convenience. Captain Evan Williams

88
MART reports that some hybrid /striper can be caught fishing
live herring 30 to 40 feet deep mainly early or late in the day.

when a cold front is coming through the area, and catch hybrids
and striper pulling planer boards with live herring. Some big
bass can be caught on the warmer days slow cranking crankbaits

CAPTAIN TOMMY DUDLEY is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed
full service striper and hybrid guide on Clarks Hill/Thurmond
lake. Tommy told us the striper/hybrid fishing will decline in
numbers but there will be bigger fish. The big fish should be
found in the back to mid sections of the major creek channels.
The fish will be caught on live herring pulled behind planer boards
in two to ten foot of water. Overcast, cloudy days are great,
but major cold fronts should be avoided. Hybrids will still be
caught on down lines near tree lines at major creek junctions.
B&E GROCERY &
CAMPGROUND is
located half way between Abbeville & McCormick. Lucy and Willy
have good hot food in the snack bar, and on Saturday from noon
to 2 pm, a buffet. They have camping sites available in the campground.
They also have weekend campers for rent. They have a good selection
of hardware and parts for repairing campers, trailers or anything
else, which needs fixing. Fishing is good on the warmer days on
