PERNELL'S TAXIDERMY
INTERNATIONAL
(843.330.2425) would like to thank our customers for a successful
2008. You know, God has really blessed our business. Every year
has seen growth and for that we are thankful (it's a good thing
.two
kids in college). We've been doing this for a long time and seen
the quality of our work improve along the way. But, we are never
satisfied and continue to learn. Each year we attend seminars
taught by some of the best taxidermists in the country. We come
home "jacked up", and ready to apply our new knowledge.
We are only satisfied when the customer is satisfied. And we do
have satisfied customers because our local animal and fish mounts
increased and we saw a nice jump in other animals from across
the USA, Africa, Canada, and other parts of the world. Mounting
species from around the globe have become the norm. We've not
yet mounted every type of animal that Noah had on the Ark, just
a lot of them.
THE CHARLESTON ANGLER has a huge selection of inshore and
offshore fishing supplies and they carry a great selection of
men's, women's, and children clothing. Front after front has been
pushing through with spells of cold and touches of warm weather
intermittently breaking through the chill. The angler that is
fortunate enough to take advantage of the calm winds between fronts
seems to be handsomely rewarded. Inshore: The redfish are still
eating well, especially on the flats during low tide. Sight casting
to them with soft plastics or a gentle fly presentation is bringing
in the most success. Trout are also still on fire and reports
of triple digit catches are not uncommon. Favorite colors are
the always-faithful electric chicken and the pearl white with
pink tail bass assassins. The Rootbeer with chartreuse tail DOA
paddle tail is another top performer. The sheepshead bite is still
strong and good catches are reported daily. Clams, oysters, and
fiddler crabs are the ticket when targeting these hard fighting
fish. Nearshore: Keeper size black sea bass and sheepshead are
being caught on our near shore reefs, wrecks, and live bottom.
Offshore: Breaking the jetties this time of year is also a tough
task due to the seasons shifty winds. The Anglers who can go at
a moments notice and take advantage of the even less frequent
calm winter ocean are enjoying strong catches of bottom fish.
The large black sea bass are showing up in numbers and grouper
and snapper bite is consistent. All fish are being caught on cigar
minnows, squid, and butterfly jigs. Remember to practice catch
and release! Charleston Angler now has 3 locations, West Ashley-
654 St. Andrews Blvd., Mt. Pleasant- located just off Hwy 17 in
Towne Centre, and (new) their 3rd location at 2139 N. Main Street,
Summerville.
